Demonstrating how the AAA battery-powered gas torch works with a flame temperature of up to 3,560 degrees Fahrenheit.

Supplies

To make it, we need an old alkaline battery. Its casing should be made of thick metal; avoid using cheap ones, as they are often very thin and of low-quality metal.

Step 1:

Drive the battery's positive contact inside to create a bowl. Be careful not to crack the metal or compromise the seal. I use a screwdriver attachment with a blunt end.

Step 2:

Use a needle for inflating balls as a nozzle. Mark the needle at the side hole and also on the battery.

Step 3:

Carefully cut around the battery casing with a pipe cutter aligned with the mark.

Step 4:

Separate the cut part and clean the inside well, removing charcoal residue from the tube.

Step 5:

Drill a hole in the center of the depression using a tool with a diameter equal to the needle.

Step 6:

Around the needle hole, make 5-9 more holes within one to two millimeters. I use a sewing needle for this, gently piercing each hole. In a screwdriver, the needle acts like a drill, creating excellent holes in the metal.

Step 7:

  • Cut a piece of copper tubing for air intake.
  • Make a hole in the battery casing and weld the tube in place.
  • For proper soldering, I use special acid.
  • Cut the needle at the point where we made the mark earlier.

Step 8:

Weld the needle tip to the battery casing. Only weld in a few places, as air should also be drawn through the copper ribs.

Step 9:

  • The torch is ready; you can connect a valve for air supply and regulation. I use an aquarium pump for air supply.
  • Connect the needle to the gas torch cylinder with a regulating valve. This is a safe design, as I use the original valve from the store, preventing any unpleasant incidents.
  • Adjust the air supply, creating the perfect mixture.

Step 10:

The torch is safe; it stays cool, and you can adjust the flame at any distance from the nozzle. Thus, the flame from the torch starts from 8 cm with proper adjustment.
