Introduction: Bunny Calendar

About: If its practical, I have no use for it!

My daughter and I made a calendar to count up to someone’s birthday, a special date, or simply use as a regular calendar. We have several family members with a birthday on the 26th, so that’s what we designed for, but obviously you can build it as a 31 day calendar. Also - an Advent Calendar!

Supplies

1/4" thick hardwood, e.g. cherry, maple, walnut

small 1/8" dowel

wood glue, sand paper

laser cutter or scroll saw

Step 1: Build the Rail

The two scalloped rails were laser-cut from 1/4” thick cherry. Afterwards we cleaned the black-burned edges by sanding. The distance between the valleys is 1 inch. The calendar is 15 inches long.

One rail was engraved with the numbers 1 to 13, the other side has the numbers 14 to 26 engraved. Again, modify to make a 31 day calendar.

The two rails were glued together with a 1/2” by 1/4” by 15” strip of cherry. Sand and finish.

Step 2: The Bunny

The bunny was laser-cut from 1/4” maple. To support it on the rails we used short pieces of 1/8” dowel glued into the two holes.

I have attached the svg files for the rails and the bunny for your use.

Step 3: Enjoy

Each day hop the bunny along the rail as you approach your special date. Turn the rail around after day 13. Hoppy Birthday (or anniversary, holiday, etc.)
