Introduction: DIY Workshop Tool Organizer Board

About: Handmade crafts and products that I make using recycled or waste, cheap and easy to available materials. Also custom products are made using a mix of materials.

Organizing tools in work space is very important for any maker or hobbyist. It reduces your effort in finding the right tools whenever you need.

In this instructable, we present an easy way to organize your workshop tools in a single boardand mount directly to the wall!

This is very easy and affordable way to organize your workshop tools and mount it to the workshop wall and hang onto a single board.

Supplies

Here, I used very few nails to hang normal tools, screws to hold few holders, a drill and some wood pieces (angle and straight) for the making.

Step 1: Planning

After using some holders to held my tools for many years, it is the time I need to move to a bigger and more systematic way to store and organize the tools

Now a days, there are many small and medium sized tools in my workshop. So, I thought to use a 3x4ply board to hang on to my wall and organize all my important and frequently used tools there.

Step 2: Drill Bit & Allen Key Holder

For storing the drill bits, here I used the actual holder of the bits as it comes, so I just mount it using couple of screws.

Next, for the Allen keys, I used a small piece of wood and made few holes in it according to the sizes of the keys.

Step 3: Large File Holder

Here I have a large filewithout the handle, so I made 2 resting pieces out of wood and screwed them onto the board.

Step 4: Rotary Tool Holder

For my rotary grinder tools, I took 2 pieces of angle wooden bars and made many holes (3.5mm) in it to store all my different kind of tools small tools.

Then I mount them using 2 screws.

Step 5: Trimmer or Router Bit Holder

For the trimmer bits, I used the same wooden holder as it comes on buying. It was inside a wooden box, so I just take out the bit holder and mount as it is, using 2 screws.

Step 6: Carving Tool Holder

Here I made a container type to hold my carving tools as shown. It is 6 inch bigger and can hold all my 12 pieces.

Step 7: File, Screwdriver, Component Holder

In this part, I used a wooden beadat the bottom of our board, so that here we can store tools like screwdriver, files, and some other component.

In this way, the tools will keep hanging and we will get more space in our board to store other tools.

Step 8: Preparing the Board

Here, we took a small ply board (3x4) to mount on the wall. Also I attached a wooden bead at the bottom as you already noticed.

Also, as a planning I attached few brackets at the top of the board to mount another step and could be used to store other items later on.

Step 9: Mount the Board to the Wall

Now, is the time to mount the board onto the wall. Here we need to drill few holes on the wall and fixed the board to the wall using screws and holders.

Note:Just for the time being I hanged the board using clips, but will update soon enough.

Step 10: Clipping All the Other Tools

Now is the time to assemble or mount all the tools to the board. I first marked the tool positions on the board and then hammered nails for tools like clamps, wrenches, clippers, scissors, marking tools and all other tools that can be hanged onto nails.

And simply mount all other tools onto the holders.

Step 11: Finally

So, finally our workshop tool organizer wall board is finished making. I hope this is a cheaper and easy way to store and organize all your available tools. Also there are some empty spaces to store future tools that will be more fit in this board.

I wish to see other makers organizing ideas to share with me.

Please comment below and tell us more easy ways or other tool holders to add on this board.

And do share this instructable with all the craftsman or hobbyist friends and relatives.
