Infinity Illusion Mirror Clock

Create the illusion of infinity thanks to mirrors and leds.

Step 1: Material

For this instructable you will need:

• 1 Clock
• 1 Round mirror - The diameter must be the same than the inner diameter of the clock
• Some One way mirror film
• 1 Led strip - It can be either fixed color or RGB
• 1 Glass and mirror drill bit
• Drill
• Screw driver
• Sponge and water

Step 2: Disassemble the Clock

Remove back screws, the top glass and clock hands.
Keep them safe as they will be used later.

Step 3: Drill the Mirror

Drill the mirror in the center.
This step have to be done with caution as mirrors are fragile.
Use a specific glass/mirror bit drill, with a standard drill you have no chance to make a correct hole.
Put some water on the glass to low down temperature and use the drill with low speed.
It took me an hour to drill the hole.

Step 4: Place the Mirror and LED Strip

Make an hole on the clock side big enough to let the LED strip go through.

Place the mirror inside the clock.

Cut the LED strip with dimension the perimeter of the inner clock circle.

Stick the LED strip in the inside of the clock.

Step 5: Replace Clock Hands

Put back in the clock mechanism an clock hands.

Step 6: Prepare the One Way Mirror

Cut the one way mirror film using the dimension of the top glass you kept from step 2.

Spray or sponge some water on the glass and apply the mirror film.

The film is easier to apply if you add some soap in the water.

Step 7: Reassemble the Clock

Put back the top glass and screws.

Make sure the LED strip alimentation cable comes out from the clock.

Step 8: Light on LEDs

Power on the LED strip to discover the infinity illusion.

Step 9: Rainbow Effect

If you use a RGB Led strip you will be able to choose your clock color.

I have chosen blue for the clock in my house.
