Introduction: Organize Your Tools With This Giant Pegboard
I don't know about you, but I find that it's really easy for my workshop to fall into a complete disorganized mess. I'm a lot more likely to keep things organized and clean if I spend a little time making it look nice, so this DIY giant pegboard was the perfect solution for me!

Step 1: STEP 1: Gather Your Materials
Step 2: STEP 2: BUILD 3 SIDES OF YOUR FRAME
Start by using your miter saw to cut down your 1X3 wood to the appropriate size for your frame. For a 4X8 board, you'll want two 8-foot boards and 2 4-foot boards, cut with mitered corners to fit together.
Use your router (or table saw), to cut a rabbet (or a small channel in the back of your wood) in each of your frame pieces (as shown above) for the pegboard to slide into.
Attach the first 3 sides of your frame together using your nail gun - basically, create a U-shape with the bottom piece and the two side pieces.
If you want to paint or stain your frame, now is the time to do so!
Step 3: STEP 3: ADD YOUR PEGBOARD + TOP PIECE
Once you have the first three pieces together, you can slide your pegboard into the rabbets in the frame. Once you've got it in place, attach your final frame piece.
Step 4: STEP 4: ADD SUPPORTS TO THE BACK
Because this pegboard is so large, you're going to need to add supports to the back. Use your remaining 1X3s to attach 2-3 support pieces to the back of the board - we used our drill to screw the pieces in at the top and bottom of the frame. This will make a small section of the peg holes unusable, but shouldn't affect your finished product too much.
Step 5: STEP 5: HANG IT UP AND FILL IT IN
Attach it to the wall by drilling through the front of the pegboard and directly into studs. You're going to want to add more than you think you will, because this will be heavy once it's filled up! I recommend doing a few screws through the pegboard and a few extra long screws directly through the supports as well.
Once it's hung up, you're ready to fill it in. Grab some pegboard organization supplies and go to town! Then, bask in the glory of a totally organized workshop.
