Introduction: Pull-to-Open Leather Fortune Cookie

Fortune cookies are not part of my culture. But, on the other hand, cookies themselves and not knowing what the hell to do with your life are pretty much universal. But I'm not that great at bakery, so mine cookies are made from leather and can be gifted as souvenir, and even be reused, if... somebody has nothing better to do.

Step 1:

The leather you need shouldn't be too stiff or too thin. Cut a circle 6-8 cm in diametre.

Step 2:

Mark the edge on one half. Fold the circle in two and punch holes with an awl.

Step 3:

Cut a strip of metal from a tin can. I'm using these things instead. They are basicaly two wires in plastic coating that are used for sealing bags with bakery.

Glue the piece to the middle of the inside of the leather circle.

Step 4:

Write your prediction on a strip of paper and put it inside.

Step 5:

Now you have to sew the edges together. Instead of making a knot, if synthetic thread is used, melt an end to form a bead. Sew the edges using the chain stitch. Make sure you're not piercing the thread with a neadle at any point.

When the seam is finished, pull the end of the thread through the last loop, tie it tight and leave a few centimetres. Melt the end as previously.

Step 6:

Bend the metal insert to form the shape. Now it looks like legit fortune cookie.

Step 7:

To open the cookie, release the end of the thread from the loop and pull it to undo the seam.

It was just a little idea that came to me recently. I can also suggest to try making these cookies from felt.

So, this is it for now, thank you for your attention and don't take a risk, go for coffe or something...
