In this Instructable, I will show you how to make Nutella cookies from scratch. This homemade Nutella cookie recipe only requires 3 ingredients! Yes only three, although you can certainly add a few more optional ingredients if you like. If you like Nutella, and you like cookies, give this easy recipe a try. If I can do it, you can do it. Let's get baking!

Don't forget to follow me and check out my other Instructables.

Follow the easy steps below or watch the video tutorial or do both! :)

Step 1: Tools and Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Nutella (or generic hazelnut spread) (360g)
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour (you can use less down to 2/3 cup) (120g)
  • 1 large egg

Tools:

  • Bowl
  • Sturdy spoon
  • Sifter or just whisk the flour first
  • Fork
  • Sheet pan
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Step 2: Egg and Nutella

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 F/176 C.

Add the Nutella to a large bowl. If you buy the 13 oz/371g size container of Nutella you can just use that whole thing, which is just slightly more than 1 cup.

Then add the large egg and mix. Once complete it will start to resemble a thick brownie batter/dough.

Step 3: Flour Time

Now add in the flour about 1/3rd of it at a time. I sift the flour in, but that isn't necessary, you can whisk it beforehand as well. Use a sturdy spoon to mix it or a stand mixer with a dough hook, or you can try your beaters as well.

This cookie dough gets really really thick. I like to use a fork after using a sturdy spoon to mix it in at the end.

Step 4: Roll It!

Now using very clean hands, grab a heaping tablespoon worth of Nutella cookie dough and roll it up into a ball then place it on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

If you want the cookies to be flatter you can press them down a bit with your palm. Otherwise, they will turn out fatter and domed, which is how I like them.

Step 5: Bake, Cool, Eat

Now time to bake those yummy Nutella cookies for 10 to 15 minutes. The time will vary depending on your oven and how large you make the cookies.

You should be able to get 12 to 15 cookies.

They are done when they are slightly cracked and feel a little dry to the touch. Allow them to cool for a few minutes then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Give it a taste! They will taste like a mixture between a cookie and a brownie but have the flavor of Nutella! And they should be slightly fudgy on the inside. Enjoy!
