Step 2: Cream the Butter

First cream the butter and the vanilla extract together with a hand mixer or stand mixer. It only takes a few minutes.

Step 3: Scrape Scrape Scrape

Scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed. Then give it a mix again for about 15 seconds.

Step 4: Sugar Time

Next add in your powdered sugar little by little, with the mixer on low, until all of the powdered sugar is blended in. The frosting will be really thick at this point.

Step 5: Milk for Smoothness

Next you can add a little bit of milk at a time to get the right consistency that you want. I wound up using 2 Tablespoons and it was perfect. Be careful not to add all of the milk in at once.

Step 6: Piping Bag

To use a piping back fold it over one of your hands, and open up the middle, or you can fold it over a tall glass. Then put the frosting in with your spatula and twist the top. You can use all kinds of different tips for different designs.

Step 7: Decorate!

Now you can decorate your cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc. Enjoy!
