Hard boiled eggs are incredibly easy to make, watch as I show you just how easy. If you have any questions or comments, put them down below and I will get back to you! I always enjoy your comments. Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial, or better yet do both!

Step 1: Ingredients

You may print the recipe here if you want.

Ingredients and Tools:

  • Large Pot
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Stovetop or hot plate
  • Water
  • Ice
  • Egg carton
  • Pen

Step 2: Add Eggs to Pot

First let's put our eggs into a large pot.

Step 3: Add Water, Salt, and Bring to a Boil

Next we add water to our pot, we want it to cover about an inch higher then the eggs. Now we add a bit of salt to the water, about 1 tsp. Set the stove top to medium high and bring the water to a boil. After it comes to a boil, let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 4: Remove Pot

Now we remove the pot from the heat and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 12 to 13 minutes.

Step 5: Pour Out Hot Water, Add Cold Water and Ice

Next we pour out the hot water, and let cold water run into the pot, then pour a half out, once more, and fill back up with cold water. Then add ice. This will chill the eggs, and stop the cooking process. We don't want our eggs over cooked. Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for about 10 minutes.

Step 6: Crack the Egg

Now let's open one up. Tap the egg on the counter turning it over and over, until it cracks, you can also roll it gently with your palm and fingers, this will help to loosen up the shell. Then peel the shell from the egg. It should come right off.

Step 7: Store the Eggs

Now let's put the eggs back in the carton for storage. Make sure to label the top. I always write HB on the top of the carton. You could put a mark on each egg too if you like.

***Tip - if you ever forget which egg is which, you can use the spinning method to test to see if it is an uncooked egg or hard boiled egg. You spin the egg like a top on a smooth counter top, if the egg is hard boiled it will rotate really easy and evenly. If it is uncooked, it will spin awkwardly and not evenly.

Step 8: Video Tutorial

Enjoy the eggs! Time to eat, decorate, or do what you will with them. Now watch the video tutorial! :)
