Step 2: Prepare Cake Mix

Let's first preheat our oven to the temperature on your cake mix recipe. In my case it is 350 Degrees F. Then let's add our wet ingredients. (Oil, Eggs, Water) I mix them together really well with my whisk. If you are using a hand or stand mixer go ahead and just add all the ingredients together.

Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients

Now let's add the cake mix dry ingredients, and mix together really well.

Step 4: Add to Lego Cake Mold

Now we spray our lego cake mold with kitchen spray, or grease it and flour it and place it on a baking sheet. Even though it is silicone, we still want to do this step, it really helps to release the cake from the mold. If you notice, the mold does not lay perfectly flat, and that is because the face and the feet are not level with the body and the legs. What you can do, is add some folded aluminum foil under the body and legs, and that will help to level it. It is not necessary though. Now bake it in the oven for about 26 to 29 minutes. Check it at around 22 minutes with a toothpick.

Step 5: Let Cake Cool Then Level It

Now we take our cake out of the oven and let it cool for about 30 minutes. Then take a bread knife or other serrated edged knife and level off the cake. This will be the cake bottom. Make sure to save and eat the trimmings!

***If you forget to spray the mold, and your cake is a super moist fudge like cake, you will want to freeze your cake in the mold for about an hour, that way it will come out the mold without sticking to the mold and messing up your cake.

Step 6: Release Cake From Mold

Now we gently release the cake from the mold. Looks pretty awesome already!!

Step 7: Preparing the Fondant

Now we take out our fondant and we want to knead it in our hands for a minute or two, until it becomes nice and soft, then roll it out with a rolling pin, about 1/8 of an inch thick or a little thinner then that.

Step 8: Place and Shape

Now we place the fondant on the face and shape it with our hands and and trim the excess with our knife. Fondant is not too terribly difficult to work with, however it takes some practice to make it look super perfect and professional, but don't worry about that. Have fun with it!

Step 9: Complete the Hands

Now we do the same steps for the hands.

Step 10: Complete the Body

Now I like to use a different color for the body. Take a new piece of red fondant or whatever color you like and knead it in your hands, then roll it out, and place and shape and trim it.

Step 11: Do the Legs

Now do the legs, following the same steps.

Step 12: Finish With Eyes and Mouth

Now we take some black cake icing and finish off the face. You are done!! :) Now you have an awesome little lego man cake for a birthday, lego themed party, or any occasion!
