Introduction: Miniature Library in a Book

About: mom- learning to DIY and craft from my kids! (No I did not really eat all the biscuits)

The decision to create a Miniature Library within a book was driven by my love for both books and miniatures. I wanted to combine these two passions into a single project that would not only be visually appealing but show my passion for books.

Supplies

  • wood glue
  • wooden lolly sticks
  • hard cover book
  • paper
  • thick string
  • glue
  • paint
  • wooden skewer sticks
  • scissors
  • craft knife
  • pencil
  • ruler
  • foam squares
  • gold pen
  • black pen
  • cardboard

Step 1: Making the Base

  1. Measure the base of the book.
  2. On a piece of cardboard draw a line that is the measurement of the book. Draw another line (of the same length) 90 degrees to the first line draw 4 lines to create a square.
  3. Cut the cardboard out.
  4. Place the wooden lolly sticks on to the cardboard square(you can place it in a pattern,i did mine as a floorboard), and the mark it with a ruler so it's the same size to fit the square.
  5. Cut out the pieces that are marked.
  6. glue the wooden sticks onto the cardboard,and let it dry.

Step 2: Make the Table

  1. Place some wooden sticks together,draw a rectangle that is 7cm by 4cm. Draw another rectangle of the same size on a paper.
  2. Cut both rectangles out.
  3. Draw four sticks for legs using the measurement that is shown in the pictures,and cut them out.
  4. Then draw two more sticks to join the leg together, size 0.5cm by 4cm.
  5. Cut it out.

Step 3: Making the Chair

  1. Draw 4 sticks that are 0.5cm by 3cm.
  2. Cut the sticks out.
  3. Glue them to the bottom of a bottle cap, and let it dry.
  4. Rip some paper into small pieces.
  5. Once dry cover the bottle cap with a layer of glue.
  6. Start to lay the pieces of paper on the bottle cap, do this till the cap is covered.
  7. Cover in a thin layer of glue and let it dry.

Step 4: Making the Bookshelf

  1. Stick some wooden sticks together
  2. Draw a rectangle of 7.5cm by 14cm on the wood that you have stuck together, than draw another rectangle of the same size on a piece of paper.
  3. Cut both rectangles out.
  4. Glue the wooden rectangle to the paper one.
  5. Cut 2 wooden stick so that they are the length of 14cm.
  6. cut more 2 more wooden sticks size 7.5cm.
  7. Glue the sticks on the rectangle to create a border.
  8. Cut 4 more wooden sticks size 7.5cm.
  9. Glue them in to create shelves.

Step 5: Making the Books

  1. Cut out lots of small rectangles.
  2. Fold the rectangles in half.
  3. Place the foam squares between the fold.

Step 6: Making the Rug

  1. Cut out a circle.
  2. Apply a thin layer of glue on it.
  3. start in the middle wrap string in a spiral, until you have covered the whole paper.
  4. Let dry.
  5. Colour in.

Step 7: Making the Lamp

  1. Rolls the rectangle to make a cylinder, glue it.
  2. stitch the circles on both sides of the cylinder.
  3. glue the beads together.
  4. Place the cylinder on the beads and glue together.

Step 8: Making the Ladder

  1. cut a stick into lots of pieces each 3cm long.
  2. place 2 sticks next to each other in between them place the smaller sticks.
  3. glue together.

Step 9: Assembling It

Place all the pieces were you think looks the best then glue them in place.
