Introduction: Pimple and Blackhead Popping Cupcakes

About: Hello and Welcome to In the Kitchen With Matt. I am your host Matt Taylor. My goal for the show is to teach you how to cook really good food at home for cheap. Eating out everyday can get expensive, but it doe…

In this Halloween Instructable I will show you how to make pimple cupcakes that you can pop. Pimple and blackhead cupcakes are really easy to make, kinda gross, yet really fun to pop. They even taste pretty darn good. Pimple cupcakes came out a few years ago. A California Bakery named Blessed by Baking made them as a gift for Dr. Sandra Lee who is known as "Dr. Pimple Popper" haha. The next Halloween party that you throw, make sure to includes these amazing treats! Let's get started!

Step 2: Cupcakes and Pudding

First we need to make some cupcakes. I just made cupcakes from a mix this time, but I do have a cupcake instructable that you can review here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Vanilla-Cupcakes-2/ .Once you have your cupcakes made, let them cool. Now let's make our pudding. Take your pudding mix and your milk and whisk them together really well in a bowl, then let the mixture sit for at least 5 minutes, so the pudding can set.

Step 3: Prep the Fondant

Now we need to prep our fondant. Take the fondant from the bag and pinch off about half of it. Then knead the fondant in your hands until it gets soft. If you are using white fondant you will need to add some brown icing color to it. Then knead it some more until the color is blended well. If you buy the skin tone box of fondant, you will just skip that step.

Step 4: Roll, Cut, Poke

Now let's roll out the fondant. I am using a handy fondant roller, but you can use a rolling pin too if you like. Then take a round cookie cutter and cut out a circle in the fondant. Next use a round tip or a straw and poke a smaller hole in the middle. This will be the top of our cupcake.

Step 5: Piping Bag

Next let's add our pudding to a piping bag with a round tip, or you can use a plastic bag and just snip off the corner. Squeeze the pudding down to the bottom and it is ready to use.

Step 6: Cut and Pipe

Now lets cut out a hole in the middle of the cupcake. Then pipe in enough pudding until it reaches the top of the hole.

Step 7: Frost and Place

Next we need to add a thin coating of frosting to the top of our cupcake. This will act like glue and hold our fondant in place. Then place the fondant on top with the little circle over the pudding. You can use your fingers to smooth it out.

Step 8: Paint and Blackhead

Now we need to paint a little red food coloring around the hole, this will make it look like the pimple is inflamed and ready to be popped. If you want to turn it into a blackhead, add a chocolate chip in the hole, hahaha.

Step 9: Pop and Enjoy!

Now you just have to pop those cupcakes! You might get a little grossed out, but that is half the fun. Then enjoy!! :) Happy Halloween!

**Note, after you make them, if you put them in the fridge for a few hours, they pop much better. hahaha.

Step 10: Video Tutorial
