In this Dungeons and Dragons instructable I will show you how to make some cool towers that you can use with your minis to spruce up your battle maps. These towers can be used with Dungeons and Dragons miniatures, Pathfinder, and any other role playing game where you might use battle maps. I don't always get this crafty when I am the Dungeon Master but every once in awhile it is fun to do some cool stuff. Granted you could just buy pre-made towers that will no doubt look better these, but that can costs lots of money. Same goes for making paper mini's vs. buying minis. So for the crafty types, this is for you. It is always nice to build up a slew of minis and props to have at your disposal for all your campaign needs. These towers are easy to make, if I can do it, you can do it. Let's get started!

Step 1: Materials Needed

The materials needed for these D&D Towers:

1 1lb Oat meal container
2 sheets of paper with rock texture printed on them
tape
hot glue gun with glue
exacto knife
glue stick or spray adhesive
piece of cardboard
pen
scissors

Step 2: Trim the Oatmeal Container

First we need to trim off the top lip from the oatmeal container. I just use my exacto knife to trim that off.

Step 3: Cardboard Levels

Now we need to cut out our round cardboard levels, so we can have a three story tower. I just usually take a piece of cardboard from an old box, then trace the oatmeal container on the cardboard creating a circle. Then cut it out with scissors or your knife.

Step 4: Trim That Skin

Next we need to make the skin or texture for our container. I just printed off an image that I liked from google. Then I trimmed all the white bits off. Next I stood it up against the container so I could measure how tall I needed it. I could have easily have used a ruler too, but that was 6 feet away and I was already sitting down...lol. Then trim it so it will wrap around nicely.

Step 5: Glue, Wrap, Tape

Next we glue the paper with a glue stick or spray adhesive, then wrap it around the oatmeal container. Then finish off the seams with some tape.

Step 6: Fill That Gap

Next we need to fill the gap with another piece of paper. Cut out a small strip from the other sheet and then measure and cut it. Next glue and tape it down. Alright cool, our tower is taking shape.

Step 7: Entrance

Every tower needs an entrance. I just take my exacto knife and measure the height of a mini, then cut a little above that to create a nice entrance.

Step 8: Glue Level 2

Next trim your cardboard round until it fits snugly into the middle of your tower. I push my fingers through the entrance and hold it while I glue it down with hot glue. This will make level 2 nice and secure. Let the hot glue cool for a bit and set.

Step 9: Windows and Level Three

Next, while the glue for level 2 is cooling, you can cut out a window, like we did the entrance. Stick your knife in and cut around, roughly a rectangle shape. Now let's glue on our other piece of cardboard round for the top level. Trim it so it fits and then put you fingers in through the window to hold the cardboard level three in place, then place it about an inch from the top and glue it down with your hot glue.

Step 10: Cut Out Remaining Windows

Now we need to cut out any additional windows on level 2. I usually have 4 total.

Step 11: Trim the Top

Next we need to trim the top so it has the classic tower look. Then place a piece of tape on each to hold it down, sometimes, when we glue the paper on, that top part isn't glued quite down, so the tape helps.
