Introduction: Yummy Breakfast Burrito

In this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt I will show you how to make a breakfast burrito. I love breakfast burritos, they are one of my comfort food breakfasts. There are all kinds of things you can put in them, eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon, ketchup, salsa, bacon, grilled bell peppers, avocado, bacon, did I mention bacon?

Step 1: Ingredients/Tools

Ingredients:

  • tortillas
  • potatoes
  • scrambled eggs
  • bacon
  • cheese
  • salsa
  • ketchup

Other ideas:

  • grilled peppers
  • ham
  • sausage
  • tomatoes
  • and whatever else you like. :)

Tools:

  • skillet
  • spatula
  • knife

Step 2: The Potatoes (Hash Browns)

Let's make our potatoes or hash browns first. Wash your potatoes and then chop them up into small chunks, then boil them for about 3 to 4 minutes, this is called par boiling. Next place a skillet on your stovetop and set the heat to medium (350 F) Add some shortening or oil to the skillet and brown the potatoes until they get crispy on the outside, a nice golden brown color is what we are after.

Step 3: Nice Crispy Bacon Frodo

Next we want to make the star of the dish....the bacon. I LOVE bacon. My favorite is a nice thick applewood smoked bacon. Place it in a skillet on medium heat and cook it until golden brown and crispy. Remove most of the bacon grease from the skillet.

Step 4: Scrambled Eggs

Now we add three eggs that we have whisked up to the skillet with a small amount of bacon grease....mmmm bacon grease. Scramble those eggs until dry and fluffy.

Step 5: The Perfect Burrito Fold

Next we need to assemble our burrito and fold it! Place your toppings in the middle, don't put too much on it, otherwise it won't fold, unless you have a 2 foot in diameter tortilla ;). To fold the burrito take the sides in towards the middle, then take the bottom and fold it almost until it reaches the other side, then clamp down with your fingers and tuck and roll it tight, then continue the roll the burrito the rest of the way. A perfectly rolled burrito. :)

Step 6: Serve It Up!

Now serve that yummy burrito up. : ) Enjoy! :)
